1. Who are we?

JDT Care a co-branded takaful or Islamic insurance available underwritten by Etiqa Takaful Bhd, Malaysia’s No. 1 Takaful operator and a member of the Maybank Group. 2. What is JDT-Care Motor Takaful?

JDT-Care Motor Takaful is similar to your normal insurance protection that covers you against loss or damage to your vehicle due to accidental fire, theft or accident. It also covers bodily injury or death of a third party, as well as loss or damage of a third party’s property.

Unlike conventional motor insurance, if at the end of the year there is a surplus (profit) some of this surplus (profit) will be returned back to you if you have not made any claims or cancelled your policy before expiry. In other words if you drive safely and remain as a customer, you may receive a cheque from us!

3. Why should I renew my car policy via JDT-Care?

We all like to be in control rather than depend on other people. Just like your online ticketing or banking transactions, you decide when and where you want to renew. Even better you get on the spot coverage for your car, no need to wait.

4. What is No Claims Discount?

Your NCD or No Claim Discount is a discount given to you on your insurance policy upon renewal if there has been no claim against the previous year’s policy. The value of the discount rises for each year, up to a maximum value, as stated in your policy document. The current rates for normal private cars are:

1st Year – 0%
2nd Year – 25%
3rd Year – 30%
4th Year – 38.33%
5th Year – 45%
6th Year – 55%
7th Year – 55%

5. My agent does everything for me, why should I do it online?

You can get it done faster than your agent can by doing it yourself (typical renewal takes about 5 minutes) and at the same time contribute to the development and improvement of your favourite football club JDT. We have made the process very fast and easy, anyone can do it.

We have designed the on-line form to make it as simple as possible for you to renew your car policy. In only 5 very quick and simple steps, your car insurance policy can be renewed. Our underwriters Etiqa Takaful Berhad have been doing it since 2007 and they have more than 500,000 satisfied customers who have been renewing their motor takaful ( insurance ) online.

On top of that, your Road Tax can be delivered to you within 24 hours* via MyEG services.

6. It’s too complicated. I don’t even know what my Sum Insured is.

Don’t worry. Our system is there to help. Just provide us with basic information about your car such as: make, model and year and we will automatically recommend the sum insured. You can also make adjustments to the insured sum within the recommended range either higher or lower. Not only that, we can also tell you how much NCB ( No Claims Bonus ) you are entitled to.

7. I’m currently not insured with Etiqa, do I need my car registration?

No, you don’t. All we need is your car registration and your IC number. Everything else about your car we will be fill up for you. Details like your engine cubic capacity, chassis no, engine no, year of manufacture and your car make and model will be taken care by the system.

8. What information is sent to the Department of Road Transport during the verification part of the renewal process?

We will send the engine and chassis number of the vehicle being insured, as well as the vehicle owners’ New NRIC (or Old IC), and the start and end dates of period of protection.

9. What happens if the information provided to Motor Takaful is incorrect?

The system is always there to help. Any incorrect information will be highlighted for you so that you can provide the right information.

10. How long does it take for the Motor Takaful system to verify my information?

Usually, the Motor Takaful system will only take  about a minute to validate the information you have entered. Overall, it should take no more than 5 minutes to get your Motor Takaful cover issued.

11. How do I get the insurance Cover Note and road tax for my vehicle if it has been blacklisted?

If your vehicle has been blacklisted for any reason, you will first have to contact the Road Transport Department (JPJ) in order to settle any outstanding fines and summons you may have prior to you insurance and  road tax renewal.

12. What about my Cover Note?

13. Do I need to go to an Etiqa branch to pick up my policy?

No, your e-Certificate is automatically emailed to your  registered email address. This will come in handy as you can retrieve the document at your convenience. All you need is access to your email.

14. What about my Road Tax?

Our Motor Takaful system is linked to MyEG. You can opt for your Road Tax to be delivered to you at a very minimal charge. Depending on your location, your Road Tax can be delivered to you from within 24 hours (in Klang Valley) to a maximum of 5 days.

15. At the Post Office, my car registration card is updated. What about online?

You can have it updated at any MyEG outlets.

16. Who should I call if I haven’t received my policy?

Please call Etiqa Customer Care Department at 1-300-13-8888.

17. How do I purchase insurance for my new car?

The JDT-Care Motor Takaful on-line system does not support new car insurance application.

However, if you wish to apply coverage for your new car, you may email to support@sncapital.com.my or contact S&N Capital Sdn Bhd Helpdesk <TBC> for further assistance.

This also applies to non-standard cases and if your car’s make and model is currently not listed in the JDT-Care Motor Takaful web based system.

18. What claims options are available to me after an accident?

In case of an accident you have 3 choices:

Option 1 (Own Damage):

  • You claim against your own policy.
  • Impact: You lose your NCD.

Option 2 (Third Party Claim):

  • You make a claim against a third party insurance company.
  • Impact: Your NCD is not affected.
  • Eligibility: When it can be proven that a third party is at fault, and the third party vehicle is not a bus, taxi, motorcycle, diplomatic vehicle, vehicle belonging to a foreigner, or a government vehicle.

Option 2 (Own Damage – Knock For Knock):

  • You make a claim exactly as in the case of a third party claim; Etiqa Takaful as your Takaful provider, will communicate with the third Party’s insurance company.
  • Impact: Your NCD is not affected

19. How do I make a claim?

Please contact our toll-free Claims Helpdesk at 1-300-88-1007 (24 hours).

You will need to provide us with the following information:

  1. Policy holder’s name
  2. Car registration number
  3. Date of loss/accident
  4. Location of the accident
  5. Description of how the accident happened
  6. A copy of the police report

Etiqa Takaful Berhad will ensure the car is towed to a panel workshop nearest to your location at no extra charge.

If your car windscreen is damaged:

Please contact our toll-free Claims Helpdesk at 1-300-88-1007 (24 hours).

You will need to provide us with the following information:

  1. Policy holder’s name
  2. Car registration number
  3. Location of the accident

You will be directed to the nearest approved windscreen repairer who repair your windscreen. We will handle everything,no forms to fill up, no upfront payment.

If your car is stolen:

You will need to make a police report immediately, then inform Etiqa Takaful Berhad by calling our toll-free Claims Helpdesk at 1-300-88-1007 (24 hours).

Before making a claim you will need to be prepared to wait for a reasonable period to see if your car can be recovered. If it is clear that your car cannot be recovered you should proceed to make a claim.

You may claim the sum insured or the current market value of your stolen car, whichever is lower.

To ensure your claim can be processed as quickly as possible please make sure to provide the following documents to support your claims:

  • Duly completed and signed Claim Form.
  • Copy of registration card and road tax disc
  • Copy of drivers’ NRIC and driving license
  • Original police report
  • Repairer’s estimation (prepared by the workshop)
  • Loss adjuster report (assigned by Etiqa Takaful Berhad)

20. How do I make a claim without affecting my No Claim Discount?

The only time you may claim without affecting your NCD is if the police investigation shows the accident is caused by the other driver or third party.

You should:

Make a police report and ensure that everyone involved does the same.

  1. Fill in a claim form –  or collected at any of Etiqa branch or panel workshop.
  2. Make sure that you have all of the third party’s details – name, address, IC, car policy details and vehicle details.

Please note you will NOT be able to claim without affecting your NCD in the following situations:

  1. The accident involves a government owned vehicle.
  2. The accident involves a diplomat vehicle or a foreigner’s vehicle.
  3. The accident involves a motorcycle.
  4. The accident involves bad injuries or death

21. Will I lose my NCD if I make a claim?

You will not lose your NCD if the other driver or a third party is at fault. The police will determine who is at fault based on their investigation.

Roadside assistance in the event of a breakdown

24-Hour Roadside Repairs: Our technicians will liaise with you to determine whether your vehicle can be repaired on the road. Roadside repairs will be subjected up to a maximum of two (2) hours labour. The service does not cover the cost of any spare parts required during the repairs

24-Hour Towing Service: If your vehicle cannot be repaired on the roadside, we will provide free unlimited towing service to the nearest workshop (vetted by Motortakaful).If you opt for a workshop other than that selected by Motortakaful – and the distance between the breakdown location and the chosen workshop is more that 50 km, you shall bear the additional distance charges at the rate of RM 3.00 per km.

Onward Benefits (Limited to three times a year)

Taxi: We will assist you in arranging a Taxi for the remainder of your current journey, up to a maximum of RM60*. In addition, you will be entitled to the following services should you be stranded more than 100km from your place of residence, and/or the repairs to your vehicle will take longer than 48 hours to complete.

Car Rental: We will assist you in arranging a rental car for the remainder of your journey, up to a maximum total rental cost of RM400*.

Hotel Accommodation: We will assist you in arranging hotel accommodation should you be in distress up to a total cost of RM400*.

*Please keep all original receipts. Charges for services should be borne by you at the time they are rendered.
We will reimburse you up to the amounts mentioned above once assistance has concluded.
